The Second Industrial Engineering Week of La Rioja pays tribute to the Chairman of the CLH Group

A tribute has been paid to the professional career of José Luis López de Silanes, Chairman of the CLH Group and of the Social Board of the University of La Rioja, during the opening ceremony of the Second Industrial Engineering Week of La Rioja, which was held at the offices of the Professional Association of Industrial Engineers of Aragón-La Rioja in Logroño.

López de Silanes, born in Haro in 1946, is an Industrial Engineer. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and went on to complete the Management Development Program (PDD) at the IESE School. He has been Chairman of the CLH Group since 2005, after serving as CEO of the Gas Natural Group, in addition to having created and directed the Repsol Group Engineering Centre. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education Management and Policy of the UPM as well as the Advisory Board of the School of Industrial Engineers of the UPM.

In 2014 he received the honourable mention “Industrial Engineer of the Year” from the Professional Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (COIIM) and the award “Executive of the year” in the first edition of the La Rioja Executive Awards.

Second Industrial Engineering Week

The Second Industrial Engineering Week of La Rioja is organised by the Professional Association of Industrial Engineers, the Professional Association of Technical Industrial Engineers, professional associations, the University of La Rioja, the regional government and the Instituto de Estudios Riojanos (IER).

This event, which will run until next Friday, offers a complete conference programme related to the sector. The attendees include Alberto Falces, Professor at the School of Engineers of the University of La Rioja, José Luis Pérez Pastor, Director General for Culture of the regional government and Julio Gómez, founder of Avanzare, a Spanish manufacturer of nanomaterials.

In addition to the above, an exhibition entitled “The Origins of Industrial Engineering” has been organised and, as a closing event for the week, a graduation ceremony where graduation awards will be given is to be held for students of the School of Industrial Engineering of the University of La Rioja.
