The CLH Group receives the Annual Golden Award from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain

  • The award recognizes the investment efforts made by the company in United Kingdom

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain has given the CLH Group the Golden Award 2016 in recognition of the investment efforts made by the company in the country and its contribution to business relationships between Spain and the UK.

The Chairman of the CLH Group, José Luis López de Silanes, received the award during a ceremony held at the Spanish Embassy in London, which was attended by the Spanish Ambassador to the UK, Federico Trillo, and the president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain, Javier San Basilio.

Since 1 May 2015, the CLH Group has managed the most important pipeline network in the UK through its new subsidiary, CLH Pipeline System (CLH-PS) Limited, after being the successful bidder in a tender process organised by the British government, as these infrastructures were owned by the Ministry of Defence.

The logistics system acquired by CLH comprises 2,000 kilometres of pipelines, representing 50% of the British network, and 16 storage facilities with a capacity of over one million cubic metres.

These infrastructures service defence facilities and some of the major British airports, such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester, and another 10 regional airports. The company plans to carry out a major modernisation plan for these assets, thus reinforcing operational safety and efficiency.

According to the Chairman of the CLH Group, José Luis López de Silanes, “this award recognises the extraordinary efforts made by the company in this transaction, which has increased by 50% the pipeline network already managed by CLH in Spain.”

The Chairman of CLH-PS, Juan Bonilla, highlighted that “this project proves the commitment of the CLH Group to becoming the leader in the safe and efficient distribution of liquid fuels in the UK.” He also explained that “at present, CLH-PS manages the only independent pipeline network for aviation fuel transport and storage in the UK.”

About the CLH Group

The CLH Group is the leading company in the transport and storage of oil products in the Spanish market. The company’s infrastructure in Spain consists of over 4,000 kilometres of oil pipelines and 40 storage facilities, with a capacity of 8 million cubic metres, in addition to 28 airport facilities.

On an international scale, in addition to the project in the UK, the company was recently awarded the operation and renovation of the fuel storage terminal at Dublin Airport, after successfully bidding in a tender process organised by Dublin Airport Authority.

The company will manage the storage facility under a concession scheme for 20 years through a new company, CLH Aviation Ireland Limited. The facility renovation work, with a planned investment of over 40 million euros, will expand its storage capacity and enable the construction of a new hydrant system.

CLH is also developing a major project in the Sultanate of Oman, where it has established a company with Orpic, called OLC, which is in the process of building a 300-kilometre-long oil pipeline as well as a storage facility.
