The CLH Group collaborates with the island council of Menorca to improve the Ronda de Mahón

  • The company has signed an agreement to finance the renovation works of this road in the section leading to the port

CLH Operations General Manager, Juan Bonilla, and the Conseller of Mobility and Project of the Island Council of Menorca, Luis Alejandre, have today signed a collaboration agreement by which the company undertakes to collaborate in the improvement works that will take place in the Ronda de Mahón, in the section that leads to the port.

The work will consist of road resurfacing in the section between kilometre 0 and kilometre 1.3. CLH will participate in the financing of the works, while the Island Council, as owner of the road, will be responsible for contracting and executing the project.

The CLH Group has been linked to Mahón since 1956, when a storage facility located in Cala Figuera started its operation. This centre ceased activities in February 2010, after a modern plant was put into operation close to the airport, which represented a four-fold increase of the storage capacity available on the island until then.

The project, with an investment of 22 million euros, also entailed the construction of a multi-product pipeline of more than 5 kilometres between the new facility and the port’s pumping station, which enables direct supply from the ship unloading area.

After the opening of the plant, CLH dismantled the Cala Figuera facility and carried out the environmental recovery of its land through a new bioremediation technique where biological processes were used to clean the soil. New commercial and port activities will be developed in this recovered area.
