In his speech, López de Silanes thanked “the people of La Rioja, its regional government and its president for such distinction, which is one of the greatest satisfactions I could receive as a person born in La Rioja”.

Furthermore, he highlighted that “this distinction is very special to me, as I have tried during my career to remain close to La Rioja and to contribute to its economic and social development. I honestly hope I can be worthy of this award”.
