Exolum strides forward in its backing of sustainability by obtaining the ISCC Plus and ISCC Corsia certifications

These certifications ensure the sustainable origin and traceability of raw materials throughout the supply chain and foster the circular economy vis-à-vis the raw materials used

With these certificates Exolum forms part of the SAF supply value chain in all ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) Member States which allows it to ensure the traceability of SAF biofuel

The International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) is the leading international biomass and bioenergy certification scheme, focusing on land use sustainability along with greenhouse gas traceability and verification

The use of sustainable biofuels is an increasingly demanded trend by individuals and companies, who display greater environmental and social awareness

Exolum has obtained the ISCC Plus and ISCC Corsia sustainability certifications granted by the ISCC (International Sustainability Carbon Certification) body, through Control Union, acting as a control body. This is the first biomass and bioenergy certification scheme focusing on sustainability of land use, traceability and verification of greenhouse gases from the outset to the end of supply chains.

ISCC Plus certification extends the certificate with more specific requirements for traceability throughout the supply chain. It likewise verifies companies’ compliance with raised environmental and social standards and encourages the circular economy to convert waste into raw materials for reuse.

In turn, the ISCC Corsia certification aims to comply with the specific requirements established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in terms of offset and reduction of total CO2 emissions for aviation.

The ISCC CORSIA and ISCC Plus certificates guarantee compliance with high sustainability standards in biomass production, traceability of its origin and the potential saving of greenhouse gases. With these certificates Exolum forms part of the SAF supply value chain in all ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) Member States which allows it to ensure the traceability of SAF biofuel.

Both airlines as well as other companies with their own fleet of aircraft that compulsorily or voluntarily intend to reduce their CO2 emissions will be favoured by being able to certify the use of this sustainable fuel. Furthermore, an increasing number of people display environmental awareness and concern regarding the use of CO2 in their air travel, which favours airlines to include these fuels in their journeys.

Avikor, Exolum’s solution so that people and companies can make more sustainable journeys

In response to the society’s boundless environmental awareness, Exolum has developed Avikor, an online platform that facilitates sustainable air travel, regardless of the user’s airline.

The platform carries out an automatic calculation of the litres of sustainable fuel (SAF) that correspond to it as part of the passage and the user can decide the percentage with which they wish to contribute to make their flight greener by bearing the price difference between traditional fuel and biofuel. Once the purchase has been closed, Avikor inserts the amount of SAF purchased into the airport’s refuelling system, replacing traditional kerosene on the day the flight takes place, thereby reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by up to 80%.
