Exolum holds Hackathon X aimed at designing innovative solutions to improve the company’s day-to-day operations

For this first edition, over 60 company employees unleashed their ideas and innovative solutions aimed at improving the organisation’s processes.

In this regard, two projects relating to sustainability and preventive maintenance were selected for being particularly disruptive.

Exolum is committed to teamwork and active listening processes. Therefore, activities such as the Hackathon are essential for learning together and promoting closer relationships among colleagues.

This past week Exolum held its Hackathon X, an initiative aimed at promoting innovation and internal talent, in addition to strengthening engagement within the organisation. Over 60 employees worked in teams for two days on the design of innovative proposals relating to digital transformation, energy transition or improvement of the company’s regular processes.

The hackathon represented an opportunity to boost the company’s internal talent through collaborative ideas aimed at searching for innovative solutions that improve Exolum’s processes. Such co-creation activities help implement agile working models in the company, while improving competitiveness and people’s own skills in innovation. In this edition, two teams were rewarded for their innovative ideas in sustainability and preventive maintenance.

Particularly, the sustainable initiative consists of a tool that assigns the impact of the carbon footprint or water consumption per service. The other initiative focuses on the improvement of preventive maintenance of airport vehicles by using an application that records such tasks and allows monitoring, as well as the generation of notifications to facility managers.

According to Javier Alonso, Exolum’s Global HSSE & Technology Lead, “initiatives such as Hackathon X are essential to promote creativity and innovation among company employees. At Exolum our excellent team of experts and professionals helps us to identify initiatives and key trends to improve our organisation.”
