CLH and the Bilbao Port Authority sign an agreement on good environmental practices

CLH and the Bilbao Port Authority have signed an agreement on good environmental practices according to the Spanish Act on State ports and the Merchant Navy.

Under this agreement, by performing regular controls that will be accredited by independent specialists, CLH undertakes to certify that the terminals in Santurce and Zierbena-Port of Bilbao comply with the strict environmental requirements established under the law and it will also develop improvement programmes. For its part, the Port Authority will apply the discounts in the relevant port taxes set out in the Act.

This agreement supplements the Environmental Management System in place at CLH's plants and represents an addition to the existing certifications held by the facility, such as ISO 14001 environmental certification or the quality certificate from the Spanish State Port Authority.

The terminals in Santurce and Zierbena-Port of Bilbao are two of the three oil product storage and distribution centres managed by CLH in the Basque Country. Hydrocarbons can be loaded and unloaded by tanker vessel at these facilities, which are also connected to the company’s pipeline network.

CLH manages another terminal in the Basque Country located in Rivabellosa (Álava). In 2019, CLH supplied 2.5 million cubic metres of fuel to different oil operators in order to meet end user demand in the region and its area of influence.
