The City Council of San Fernando de Henares, the Real Madrid Foundation and the CLH Group inaugurate the fifth season of the city’s social sports school

The Mayor of San Fernando de Henares, Cati Rodríguez; the City Councillor of Sports, Rocío Vicente; the Director of Institutional Relations for Real Madrid F.C., Emilio Butragueño; and the Chairman of the CLH Group, José Luis López de Silanes, signed an agreement renewal for the development of a social sports school, which has just inaugurated its fifth season at an event held at the San Fernando Municipal Sports Centre.

The City Council of San Fernando de Henares, the Real Madrid Foundation and the CLH Group support this football school, benefitting 100 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14. Half of these children are immigrants or belong to a community at risk of social exclusion and do not pay registration or monthly fees.

This project is an important working tool for the San Fernando de Henares Municipal Sports and Social Welfare Departments to develop social connection and integration in order to establish equal opportunities among all children.

This project is part of CLH’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, which promote cooperation through social, cultural and educational projects in municipalities where the company operates. During his speech, the Chairman of the CLH Group expressed his satisfaction with the renewal of this agreement, as “this project promotes tolerance, understanding and social integration among different yet complementary cultures and also offers children healthy, positive alternatives for what to do with their free time,” he stated.

López de Silanes also highlighted the CLH Group’s special relationship with San Fernando de Henares, where the company has a storage facility as part of its logistics network, in addition to other major infrastructures, including the company’s Pipeline Monitoring Centre and the Central Laboratory.

Director of Institutional Relations for Real Madrid F.C., Emilio Butragueño, declared: “I was here five years ago for the opening ceremony and it is exciting to see how this school continues to benefit so many children year after year. I would really like for them to continue to enjoy playing sports while learning from the values conveyed by Real Madrid, such as effort, respect and teamwork.” This school is part of an initiative of the Real Madrid Foundation, initiated over 18 years ago, to facilitate the integration of children and families in communities at risk of exclusion through sports.
