- The award is given in recognition of the professional career of José Luis López de Silanes and his knowledge of the energy industry and the relevance of business internationalisation
The Chairman of the CLH Group and of the Social Board of the University of La Rioja, José Luis López de Silanes, will receive later today the Gold Medal of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of La Rioja. This is the second time that this award has been given since 2006.
This award recognises the professional career of López de Silanes in the business and energy sphere, where he has held different positions of responsibility in relevant companies of the industry, such as Campsa, CLH, Repsol, Enagás and Gas Natural, as well as his relationship with the university sphere, as chairman of the Social Board of the University of La Rioja and member of the Advisory Board of the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education Management and Policy of the UPM (Polytechnic University of Madrid) and the Advisory Board of the School of Industrial Engineers of the UPM.
As leader of the CLH Group, López de Silanes has promoted the most important investment plan in the history of the company, with actions in Spain amounting to over 1.2 billion euros in the last ten years. Under his leadership, CLH has also undertaken an ambitious internationalisation plan which has led the company to carry out projects in the Sultanate of Oman, where it is building a new oil product storage and transport system, and the United Kingdom, where it manages the main pipeline network through its subsidiary CLH-PS.
The award ceremony for the Gold Medal will take place this afternoon, during the event of the Internationalisation Awards 2015, also given by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of La Rioja, supported by the regional government.
These awards, created to reward export-oriented companies operating in the region and to promote opening to foreign markets, have been given to Bodegas RODA, Mecanizaciones Aeronáuticas S.A. (MASA) and Natural World.
The event will be attended by more than 200 personalities of the political and business spheres, including, as a special guest, Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, chairman of the Real Instituto Elcano, one of the main international and strategic study centres.
