CLH joins the working group for the promotion of the use of Electronic Transport Documents (ETD)

  • The use of Electronic Transport Documents (ETD) for freight provides advantages that have a positive impact on every phase of the supply chain

CLH has joined the working group comprising the main carriers, shippers and freight forwarder associations, together with technology platforms operating in the transport industry to promote the use of Electronic Transport Documents (ETD) for freight.

The use of Electronic Transport Documents (ETD) is an important step towards the digitalisation of the industry and provides advantages that have a positive impact on every phase of the supply chain.

Among other advantages, ETDs allow real-time information updates on the status of the goods, safe and traceable delivery, visibility of the whole chain and time and cost savings.

Additionally, the use of Electronic Transport Documents results in greater dynamism of transport processes and improved management and control of logistics. Furthermore, electronic documents are legally equivalent to paper documents.

Along these lines, CLH is finalising the design of a new digital delivery note system, which will allow road tanker drivers to download the documentation of loading operations to a mobile device, thus increasing the efficiency of the operations and the service quality.

This new digital delivery note and documentation system will significantly reduce the time needed to access information and to communicate with third parties and it will increase the security of the process, as well as being available at any time.
