The CLH Group invested more than 140 million euros in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia between 2007 and 2013
- The Chairman of CLH, José Luis Lopez de Silanes, held a meeting today in Seville with the regional Minister of Economy, José Sánchez Maldonado, to talk to him about the company's activities and the future projects forecast for this Community, which will involve and additional investment of more than 14 million euros
Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos CLH, S.A. made investments amounting to over 140 million euros in Andalusia during the 2007-2013 period, which have made it possible to ensure that its infrastructures are ready to meet fuel supply requirements in the Community during the next decade.
The CLH Group also plans to invest over 14 million euros more in the next three years, in order to make operational and environmental improvements at several of its facilities, in addition to adapting the oil product blending services at the Algeciras facility.
Of note among the projects implemented during the 2007-2013 period is the construction of a new facility in Arahal, which involved an investment of more than 30 million euros. This facility has 6 tanks with a total capacity of 184,000 cubic metres for storing gasoline, diesel and aviation kerosene, in addition to their related ancillary installations, as well as connections with the Rota – Zaragoza and Huelva – Arahal pipelines.
Another outstanding project carried out by the company during this period was the expansion work done at the Algeciras facility, in which the company invested more than 23 million euros on improving its services in the area of bunker fuels with the construction of 6 new storage tanks, three new unloading arms and three new barge-loading tanks.
This expansion has made the Algeciras facility the most important plant in Spain in terms of storage and movement of marine diesel and IFOs (the intermediate fuel oils used as marine fuel) and one of the leading plants in Europe.
The Malaga, Huelva and Motril facilities also underwent expansion and improvement during this period, and were adapted for receiving, storing and dispatching biofuels.
Also during the 2007-2013 period, the CLH Group built a new pipeline with a length of 150 kilometres between the towns of Arahal (Seville) and Adamuz (Cordoba), which forms part of the Rota – Zaragoza pipeline duplication.
The investment made in building this new pipeline amounted to 36 million euros, its importance being that transportation capacity has now been increased for guaranteeing an appropriate level of oil product supply in the central part of the country.
CLH presence in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia
Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos CLH is the leading company in the Spanish market for the transportation and storage of oil products, with a pipeline network over 4,000 kilometres long and 39 storage facilities that have a total capacity of 8 million cubic metres, as well as 28 airport facilities.
The CLH Group has nine storage facilities in Andalusia, which are located in Cordoba, Seville, Huelva, Rota, Algeciras, San Roque, Malaga, Motril and Arahal.
The pipeline network that the company has in Andalusia is the most extensive in Spain, with a total length of 870 kilometres. This network is also connected to the two refineries that operate in this Community, and one of its main branch lines forms part of the Rota – Zaragoza pipeline which crosses the Iberian Peninsula diagonally and guarantees oil product supply to central Spain.
Through its subsidiary CLH Aviación, the CLH Group is also present at Cordoba, Seville, Jerez, Almería and Malaga airports. This latter airport is equipped with a modern hydrant network that runs beneath the airport apron, and so aircraft can be refuelled without tanker vehicles needing to be used.
In 2013, the company supplied over 5.6 million cubic metres of fuel to the different oil operators through its facilities in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, in order to meet the demand from end users in this particular region.
