CLH joins to the Association of Chemical, Basic and Energetic Industries of Huelva (aiqbe)

The Management Board of the Chemical, Basic and Energy Industry Association of Huelva (Aiqbe) approved the incorporation of CLH as a new member after studying the Company’s application, which complies with all the requirements established in the association’s bylaws.

CLH’s incorporation will help reinforce Huelva’s vocation as an industrial region as well as strengthen the sector through unity and a commitment to defending its collective interests, which is one of the association’s main objectives. Aiqbe now has 15 affiliated production plants within the municipalities of Huelva and Palos de la Frontera, belonging to 14 different companies: Algry Química, Air Liquide, Atlantic Copper, BioOils, Cepsa Refinería La Rábida, Cepsa Química, CLH, Enagas, Ence, Endesa Generación, Electroquímica Onubense, Fertiberia, Gas Natural Fenosa, and Repsol Butano. Together, these plants form the most significant industrial hub in the province and one of the biggest in the country.

In Huelva, the CLH Group has a facility located on the banks of the Atlantic Ocean spreading over one million cubic metres of land. The plant has a capacity of nearly 560,000 cubic metres and can store a wide range of oil products. The facility is designed as a pipeline head (the beginning) and fuel can be pumped from it daily to other facilities to meet the supply needs of the entire southern area including Extremadura and the western half of Andalusia.

Its road tanker loading area serves more than 150 vehicles every day and the facility is connected to the nearby Cepsa refinery and other local logistics services in addition to featuring a docking point at the port of Huelva to load and unload vessels.

By 2014 (latest available aggregate data), the aggregate production value of the 14 plants affiliated with Aiqbehad reached €11.836 billion and €84 million of investments had been made, nearly 70% of which was used for production process improvements, in addition to environmental protection (16%) and occupational health and safety (12%), highlighting the major commitment and focus on quality in these industries.

Since 2004, the accumulated investment of Aiqbe-affiliated industries has reached over €5.3 billion, providing evidence of the sector’s consolidation as the province’s main private investor.

In regards to employment, the total number of employees in Aiqbe-affiliated companies increased by 3.3% in 2014, reaching a total of 4,438 employees – 2,643 as part of their own workforce and 1,795 belonging to ancillary companies.
