SIF Project

At Exolum, safety is a non-negotiable value and a fundamental principle of our
organisation.

Our commitment goes beyond reacting to incidents: we actively promote a predictive and preventive safety culture, anticipating risks and implementing measures to prevent accidents, creating a safer and more reliable working environment for
everyone.

Project Objectives

  • Reduce exposure to critical risks through early identification of situations with SIF potential.
  • Strengthen safety culture at all organisational levels through active
    participation and prevention awareness.
  • Integrate critical controls into daily operations via Field Verification of Critical Controls (FVCC).
  • Continuously measure and improve safety performance using leading and lagging indicators.

SIF Methodology

The SIF Project combines reactive and proactive approaches:

  • Reactive: Analysis of incidents to determine whether they could have resulted in a SIF.
  • Proactive: Use of tools such as FVCC to identify and mitigate critical risks before they materialise.

Results and Progress

  • Continuous reduction in the global frequency rate of events with SIF potential.
  • Consolidation of FVCCs as a key tool for ensuring the effectiveness of critical controls.
  • Strong and visible safety leadership recognised across the organisation.

Practical Application

  • Safe facility design incorporating SIF potential criteria from the engineering phase.
  • Periodic testing protocols for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Safety training and leadership initiatives that drive a preventive culture.
