  • The Chairman of CLH, José Luis López de Silanes, explained about the activities and investments the company is making in the region to the president of the Regional Government of Extremadura

The Chairman of the CLH Group, José Luis Lopez de Silanes, attended a meeting in Mérida today with the president of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, to explain about the main activities and recent investments the company has made in the region.

CLH has a facility in Mérida, Extremadura, from which it distributes oil products to local consumer markets. In addition, the company has invested 2.7 million euros in the construction of three new tanks to increase the storage capacity to 64,500 cubic metres.

In recent years, CLH has also invested more than half a million euros in various operational improvements at the facility, including the upgrading of safety and control systems through the installation of optical fibre, new equipment and signal integration. These undertakings have enabled the remote control and supervision of activities at the plant, thus enhancing the safety of operations.

CLH has also renovated the loading area for road tankers and installed more modern and efficient measurement and control devices, which has improved the quality and sustainability of the entire process.

The facility was granted Unified Environmental Authorisation (AAU) by the regional government of Extremadura in recognition of the various initiatives the company has implemented to improve sustainability, including the waterproofing and sealing of tank bunds and the replacement of underground pipes with air ones to reinforce soil protection.

In addition to the facilities at Mérida, the CLH Group provides jet fuel loading services at Badajoz Airport though its subsidiary CLH Aviación and has a 120-kilometre pipeline that starts at Almodóvar del Campo in La Mancha and ends in Mérida, where it connects to the storage facilities.

In 2015, the company supplied the various oil product operators in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura with more than one million cubic metres of fuel to satisfy demand from end users.
